I had to look up eirenic - 'tending to promote peace, esp. in theological or ecclesiastical disputes' - so a nice compliment!<br />I *was* encouraged by the Conference, and the opportunity to share around a table with those with views different to me. Two things I particularly recall:<br />1) In a seminar, when asked the question 'our church should welcome gay people' *no one* moved to the 'disagree' corner.<br />2) I was told by a member of Reform, and believe him, that in raising the issue just now they are reacting more to events and a sense of being marginalised, rather than being driven by any highly politicised agenda.
